Welcome to the new Revel in Your Strength series. This is a new way that the Geiger Coaching Family can find ways to celebrate, build and enhance their strength outside of your day-to-day training. We will be exploring simple methods to compliment your hard work and find more satisfaction in the effort. Some of these methods you may have heard of, practiced or use regularly. Some may seem foreign or odd, but I ask you to take the time to explore each method to see if you find any value. I also encourage you to leave me a note on your TrainingPeaks calendar about your experience. On to the first installment… Reimbursing the Effort Despite your phase of training, most weeks you will see a workout on your training schedule that will challenge you in some way, forcing you to put your mind or body through something that may be uncomfortable but necessary to achieve your goals. Your task this week is to recognize and reward yourself after finishing a workout that tested your perseverance in some way. Revel in the fact that on that day you put yourself in the top percentile of humans by exiting your comfort zone and striving for something greater than your current capacity. In the comment section of this workout, write three things about the effort that you are proud of. Reflect and create these three comments immediately after your effort, during five minutes of quiet, solitary meditation. Rewarding or reimbursing your effort will dramatically increase the probability of repeating your success. Respect how hard you work and the work will turn from a task to a privilege.
